Substance Use Services

Programs and treatment options for adults living with alcohol or drug dependence in Monroe County, IL.

Support for recovery, healing, and healthier next steps

Recovery looks different for every person. Caritas Family Solutions provides substance use services for adults in Monroe County, IL who are working through challenges related to alcohol or drugs. Our team offers compassionate, nonjudgmental support and treatment options designed to meet people where they are and help them move toward recovery at their own pace.

Assessment

The first step is understanding what support will be most helpful. Assessments help our team determine whether treatment is needed and, if so, what type of care may be the best fit.

We approach every assessment with compassion, respect, and without judgment. Using motivational interviewing, we help each person explore what matters most to them, strengthen their own decision-making, and take an active role in shaping their path forward. From there, we work together to create an individualized treatment plan.

Day and Evening Outpatient Services

For people who have a supportive living environment, outpatient treatment offers the opportunity to focus on recovery while continuing to live at home. Services are available during the day and in the evening, and may include individual counseling, group therapy, or both, based on each person’s assessed needs.

Caritas does not provide detox or residential inpatient care through this program.

Treatment Group

Recovery support groups are available:

  • Mondays and Thursdays: 5 to 8 p.m.
  • Tuesdays and Fridays: 1 to 4 p.m.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

As part of outpatient counseling, clinicians may use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, to help individuals better understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

Through guided exercises during sessions and at home, clients build coping skills that support healthier thinking, stronger emotional regulation, and lasting behavior change. This work can help people stay focused on their goals and support long-term recovery.

Harm Reduction

We recognize that each person’s recovery journey is different. Our priority is to help keep people safe while supporting meaningful progress toward recovery.

Our harm reduction approach is evidence-based and person-centered. It is designed to reduce the health and social impacts associated with substance dependence while honoring each person’s stage of change. Through this model, Caritas offers overdose prevention support, Narcan education and distribution, and peer recovery support from individuals with lived experience.

DUI Services Program

Caritas offers DUI-related education and treatment services for individuals who need to complete requirements following a DUI citation. The program is designed to meet expectations set by local courts and the Illinois Department of Transportation for driving violations involving alcohol or drugs.

These services are not billable to health insurance. The State of Illinois may help cover the cost of court-ordered DUI evaluations and Driver’s Risk Education for individuals who meet income guidelines. Others are responsible for a flat fee.

DUI Court-Ordered Evaluation

When referred by the court, Caritas provides a DUI evaluation in a three-hour session. This evaluation reviews the individual’s level of functioning and results in a written report that is sent to the court.

Driver’s Risk Education Program

The Driver’s Risk Education Program is for individuals whose evaluation indicates increased risk related to alcohol or drugs, but not dependence. The program is offered based on community need and typically meets twice a week, three hours per night, for two weeks.
