Belleville, Ill. (August 18, 2026) A single day of giving will have a year-round impact for thousands of Southern Illinois and Metro East residents. The annual Caritas Day campaign, held on July 30 – 31, exceeded its fundraising goal by more than $43,000, raising $181,035 to strengthen programs that serve more than 7,500 children, families, seniors and adults with developmental disabilities throughout the region. A 4-to-1 matching challenge helped maximize every contribution during the 24-hour event.
“Caritas Day continues to be an inspiring example of what happens when a community rallies around a shared mission,” said Gary Huelsmann, CEO of Caritas Family Solutions. “We are grateful for every donor, partner, volunteer, sponsor, and team member who helped make this year’s campaign a success. As our resources, programs and impact continue to grow, we remain committed to bringing our community together to ensure individuals and families have access to the services and support they need to thrive.”
The nonprofit serves individuals and families throughout Southern Illinois and the Metro East region through a wide range of programs, including foster care, mental and behavioral health services, community integrated living, assisted living, and youth emergency services. Funds raised through Caritas Day will help support these programs, as well as newer preventive initiatives such as Intact Family Services, Comprehensive Community Based Youth Services, and The Office of Community Connections. Through these programs, Caritas continues to expand its ability to provide support, resources, and services that help individuals and families before they reach a crisis point.
“Today, we’re seeing more and more individuals and families navigating challenges that require the support we offer,” said Ashlee Lambert, Chief Development Officer at Caritas. “At a time when our resources are needed more than ever, the generosity shown on Caritas Day is critical to helping us continue to meet people where they are and provide services to help them overcome those challenges and build brighter futures. We are thankful for every donor and supporter that helps us continue bridging gaps in care and support for those who need it most.”
Caritas Day received support from 170 donors, with Team Community Impact leading fundraising efforts with $59,600 from 40 donors.
