Gina & Sean

Dear Expectant Parent:

We don’t know what it’s like to be in your shoes, but we want to give your baby the best future God has in store for him or her.

We want your baby to appreciate their culture. We love that our family and upbringing in South Florida, including Gina’s Cuban heritage, had diversity around many different ethnicities and cultures. We will celebrate their ethnicity and encourage them to learn about their culture’s food, history, and holidays.

Holidays will be a time for tradition, festivities, and most importantly, time with family. We will always celebrate holidays as family, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. We sometimes have years where our extended family come to us to visit during these holidays, when we travel to Florida to be with them, or sometimes we celebrate with just with our immediate family and friends here in town. But no matter what, we will strive to make holidays a time of memories being made, fun traditions, and quality time together.

Your baby will have a large support network to thrive in and plenty of families willing to help with childcare should we need it. Our friends and church have really become family to us. They are selfless, generous, and very caring.

Your baby will know that it is special to be adopted. They will have other adults and children in their lives that understand the complexities and emotions of adoption. We have a very supportive church family with several families who have adopted kids. In addition to knowing other adoptive families and children, they will grow up knowing adoption is a beautiful act, and we will celebrate their adoption day every year. As soon as your child is able to begin to understand what adoption is, we will make sure they know they are adopted and explain what that means as they continue to grow.

We will make sure your child knows that you chose to selflessly give them life, and made the best possible decision for them through adoption. We are willing to discuss what type of openness you are interested in as your baby grows up and desire to keep you updated with photos and letters.

We believe a good education is an important foundation for the future, and will do everything we can to make sure your child graduates from high school. We will let it be their decision whether to choose a trade school, certification, or college, and will be supportive in whatever path they choose.

When it comes to discipline and correction, we believe God’s Word is the standard and foundation. We will seek to discipline with positive reinforcement, healthy boundaries, and grace. Discipline will be done in love for the best interest of the child, with the goal of explaining how their actions affect themselves and others.

We hope you can trust us to give your baby the best life they could ever have. There is so much for a child to see, explore, and learn from so that they can grow up into exactly who God created them to be. We love to hike, camp, travel and explore new cities and parks.

Your child will be surrounded by love, support, and a family that loves them unconditionally.

Our Story

We live in a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home in Illinois, which we bought in 2017. We love our historic neighborhood, which is within walking distance to Main street for community events and parades. Our home is right around the corner from a park and playground. We have a wonderful support group of friends and neighbors and an incredible church family that is always there for us.

Hobbies & Interests

Gina: Gina loves to relax by hiking, camping, reading a good book, spending time with friends, or watching an adventure movie. Her hobbies include going to the gym, gardening, reading, bird watching, and traveling with Sean and exploring new places together. Sean: Sean relaxes by golfing, fishing, camping, reading a book at a coffee shop, or watching sports. His hobbies include playing drums, working on house projects, disc golf, watercoloring, and exploring new places with Gina.

What Led Us To Adoption?

We have always wanted to adopt as part of the way we would grow our family. And after a few years of trying to conceive and learning from doctors that it would be very difficult for us to conceive naturally, we knew it was time to pursue adoption.

Fun Facts

Gina loves to sing and can play guitar. She is half Cuban and some of her favorite foods are traditional Cuban foods.

Sean is an amazing cook! He also loves to smoke meat and harvest veggies from our large garden in the backyard.

Pets

We have 2 cats (Gatsby & Freya) and 1 dog (Daisy).

Daisy is a goofy and sweet hound dog who loves kids and is super playful. We enjoy taking her on camping trips and hikes.

Gatsby is shy around visitors while Freya is more outgoing after she warms up to people. They are both playful, sweet, and non-aggressive.

Openness

We will make sure your child knows that you chose to selflessly give them life, and made the best possible decision for them through adoption. We are willing to discuss what type of openness you are interested in as your baby grows up and desire to keep you updated with photos and letters.

Raising Your Child

We want your baby to appreciate their culture, no matter their race or if it is different from ours. We love that our family and upbringing in South Florida, including Gina’s Cuban heritage, had diversity around many different ethnicities and cultures. We will celebrate their ethnicity and encourage them to learn about their culture’s food, history, and holidays.

Our Marriage

We met in our church youth group while in high school and have been together since 2008. We got married in 2013 after graduating college. Being together for so long, knowing each other so well, and keeping God at the center of our relationship has made our marriage strong and full of joy.

Family

Gina’s family: Gina’s dad is from Havana, Cuba, and Gina’s mom is from Plainfield, Indiana. They live in Boca Raton, FL, are both retired, and try to visit us at least twice a year. Gina has one older sister who lives in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and she loves to visit us when she can. Sean’s family: Sean’s mom and dad also live in South Florida. They have been separated but they get along well. Sean has four other siblings: two brothers and two sisters. They also try to visit once a year, and we try to visit them in Florida once a year as well. Support group: Though our families live far away, we have an amazing support group in our local community. We have great relationships with our neighbors, have many close friends in the area, and a very supportive church family. We have so many people in our lives willing to help us and support us as we raise a family.
