The 2017 Inaugural Denim & Diamonds Dinner on Friday, November 3 at The Pavilion in Marion was a bright, fun-filled evening of celebrating, generosity, food and friends! With the support of 125 guests and 12 volunteers, we raised more than $29,000 to make an impact on the 4,500 children and families who receive our services throughout Southern Illinois.

SAVE THE DATE: The 2018 Denim and Diamonds Dinner will be October 13, 2018!
The evening’s atmosphere was most welcomed by those who attended; it was a relaxed, social gathering where guests could eat and view auctions and raffles at their leisure prior to the program. Guests were encouraged to dress up or dress in denim. Background music, a professional photo booth and lighting were provided by Club VIP DJ Services. Crystal’s Catering served a delicious dinner and dessert buffet, even incorporating the Denim & Diamonds theme into their presentation.
Country musician Eli Tellor was the guest testimony speaker who performed a song he wrote from personal experience. Through his lyrics, he enlightened the crowd with a message highlighting how the services offered by Caritas really are important to children in foster care.
Other noteworthy moments from the evening included the thrill of bidding in both the silent and live auctions: the silent auction had a cabin and zip lining package, tiki bar, and SIUC Basketball and Miners Tickets, while the live auction featured a one-week session at Camp Ondessonk, a wine trail tour with transportation for 16, an ornate wine cabinet and a trip to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Thanks to the generous donations of our guests and sponsors, the auctions and raffles were immensely successful and the funds raised will help out many members in the community.
Patrick and Trisha Murphy and Ella York were this year’s Event Committee Chairs. A special thanks goes to each for their hard work and dedication to create such a successful and memorable event. Thanks to John Stoecklin, the Master of Ceremonies, who entertained and guided the guests throughout the evening. Also, a special thanks to Richard Cox who conducted the live auction and fund-a-need.
Thank you to all of our remarkable sponsors who made the evening possible:
