Grant to fund renovations to Carterville office
Belleville, Ill., (May 2017) – Caritas Family Solutions received a $12,500 grant from Ameren Illinois to renovate their Regional Office located at 10286 Fleming Road in Carterville, Ill. The 11,565 square foot building was once the Cancer Center of Southern Illinois and was purchased by the agency in 2013 when it moved its regional operations from Carbondale. Caritas, formerly Catholic Social Services, is a nonprofit social services agency headquartered in Belleville, Ill. The regional office provides services to residents in the 15 southernmost counties in Illinois.
The planned renovation project will convert rooms previously used for medical purposes into a multi-use space suitable for a variety of needs including staff and client meetings, family visits, and group therapy. The main goal of the renovations is to provide a warm, comfortable environment for individuals, children and families who seek assistance from the agency. The currently unusable space is needed due to the 38% growth in clientele within the region over the past year.
The grant funds were made available through the Ameren Cares program, which connects Ameren Illinois with the communities it serves through charitable giving and volunteering. A key focus of this program is to partner with non-profit organizations to improve the quality of life in Ameren Illinois’ service territory. “Ameren Illinois is proud to provide a $12,500 Ameren Cares grant to Caritas Family Solutions. Caritas helps children and families through hardships no one should have to face alone. Their support and the services they offer are invaluable to the community and we are fortunate to provide support to that mission,” said Ray Riddle, Division Director for Ameren Illinois.
“We look forward to having a welcoming, multi-purpose space that we can use for all of our services. This will become a place for our staff to meet as a team for strategy sessions, a place for mothers experiencing an unplanned pregnancy or couples wanting to grow their family to learn about adoption, a comfortable environment for birth families to visit with their children who are in foster care, or a safe haven for families seeking to keep their young ones out of the correctional system. It will get plenty of use and we are so grateful to Ameren for their support,” said Michelle Bradley, Regional Director for Caritas Family Solutions.
