Belleville, Ill. (September 23, 2016) – Caritas Family Solutions will begin providing social services at a new location in Belleville starting Monday, September 26, 2016. The agency purchased a former nursing home near Memorial Hospital, and after extensive renovations, has moved more than 40 employees in their foster care, adoption and counseling programs to the building at 900 Royal Heights Road.
“The community support we have received has allowed us to grow significantly in recent years,” CEO Gary Huelsmann said. “Moving our program staff to this new location will allow us to accommodate that growth while continuing to provide clients with high quality care.” The agency’s headquarters will remain located in the Kilmar Professional Building at 8601 West Main Street in Belleville where it has been located for 17 years.
St. John Bosco Children’s Center, also located at 900 Royal Heights Road and operated by Caritas Family Solutions, has expanded its services as part of the renovation project by finishing an additional wing of the building to accommodate more children. Since 1992 the children’s center has been providing 24-hour therapeutic care to boys who have been severely traumatized by abuse and/or neglect; the same quality is now available for girls ages 6-15. The center allows children in residential treatment to remain closer to home since it is the only facility for girls and boys of this age group in the Southern Illinois region. There are more than 60 full-time and part-time staff employed at the center.
The renovation project was financed by The Bank of Belleville and IFF, a community development financial institution. Private donations have helped to finish the renovations.
Working to improve and expand services to the community, Caritas strives to be a leader in non-profit collaboration, offering space for lease to other nonprofits at the facility on Royal Heights Road. “This collaboration will allow our clients to receive services more conveniently and help build a community of local service providers, laying the foundation for a more just and caring society,” Huelsmann said. “We are sincerely grateful to the businesses, foundations, community organizations and individuals who have contributed to the well-being of the community by showing their support for our mission.” For more information on the available space, please contact CEO Gary Huelsmann at 618.213.8705.
